Artist bio

My name is Polina.

I was born in Yekaterinburg — a beautiful city that, it seems to me, is home to a great many fascinating people. Creativity existed before I did. Since childhood I loved building my own worlds and showing reality as I see it, through drawing, writing, sewing, pyrography, and whatever technique I could reach.

At ten I entered art school, and that was the start of my professional path.

After classical art school I studied at the Ural State Academy of Architecture and Arts, and later at the Czech Technical University in Prague, where I earned the title of architect engineer.

What I loved most about shaping spaces was imagining how life would unfold in them — what people would feel, how light would play, how the interior would feel. That led me to mural painting, which I practised for more than seven years.

I see my decorative work not only as ornament for a room but as a way to set a mood and carry an idea. In my practice I explore human states, the possibility and impossibility of showing oneself. I hope that through my art people go deeper inward, listen to themselves more, and slow down.
